so i have heard from 1080p to 1440 p there is an 79% increase in pixels, does this increased amount of pixels result in an exactly 79% more hardware requirement? i know you have to have stronger hardware, but is it exactly 79%?

1920 x 1080 = 2073600 pixels

2560 x 1440 = 3686400 pixels

 

That's a 78% increase. (1080p compared to 1440p)

It requires more horse power while gaming

 

EDIT:

A GTX 970 gets min. 61 fps and average 78 fps in 1080p BF4

And min. 39 fps and average 50 fps on 1440p BF4

Calculations are true but calculating stuff about pixels is not everything cpu/gpu do during gaming so performance need is not scalable like that

The 1440p requiring more horsepower is not part of the 1440p is 78% increase in pixels.

I don't say horsepower and pixel amount are relative to each other.

yes but how does it scale then? i am wondering how much you gain buying a smaller screen laptop with less resolution?

The gtx780 scales perfectly in this test going from 1080p to 1440p but other cards scale differently.

it seems like the hit is pretty close to how many more pixels it has to render, thanks!
