Firewire?

Hey Guys,

 

i looked at my Motherboard and i saw that is still has 2 Firewire connectors, they are named as 1394.

 

So my Question is: I there still any use of them? Or are they just too old?

The fist gen iPod uses it... if you still have one around. 

 

Other then that i don't know to be honest

There are some external Firewire HDDs, but that's mostly a Mac thing. Plus, everything is migrating onto Thunderbolt nowadays...

If you have any firewire devices (like old iPods, or old storage drives) it can be useful.

 

Otherwise, there's not much use for them.

Firewire was really only adopted by Apple. Other companies used it, but they were the ones pushing for it. Firewire can be found on old iPods and camera/camcorders. with was fast in its day compared to USB but quickly died out.
