I'm typically worried about getting liquid in my PC, and somewhat nervous whenever i have liquids near my computer, but this partially due to how we all need air to cool our rigs, so there will be an intake fan and a out take fan in most computers, these can be dangerous to a computer, as liquid can sucked into the intake fan, and distributed all around the case, thus destroying my computer. The problem stems from my case (Haf 922), and it having vents/holes every where, thus making me paranoid about the issue at hand. What cases won't let liquid in?

Also what i'm afraid of is opening a soda, and it spraying as i do so, or a friend spilling a drink, and splashes of it hitting my pc; can this even happen? Will one drop of liquid destroy a computer?

How do you expect the component to not set alight without airflow.

Actually nevermind, a fire wouldn't be possible because there'd be no oxygen to fuel it.

What's with these latest posts of people worried about liquid in their rigs. Put your rig in a spot where spilt liquid won't flow into your case, and you're fine. Opening a soda isn't going to fling soda anywhere, nor is one drop of soda going to make it's way through the grates onto something important and destroy your rig.

It could destroy it but just be careful. There are no waterproof cases because the computer would suffocate and one would assume that a person that can build a computewr can also keep liquids from spilling in it.

Well i would imagine this case ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejoXchBMFsEwould be fairly hard to get liquid into, rather than my Haf 922, which is damn near a open case :S

Because liquid+electronic= death, and my PC being destroyed would leave me very mad, also without a personal possession that i love, and replacing it would cost a lot of money, money that i couldn't get back for awhile.

Opening Soda (depending on the brand), will sometimes spray soda in every direction do you the carbonation, and if one drop were to get into my pc, i think it would fry it.

I've had a HAF 932 next to my desk for a couple years with no issues... trust me I know about HAF cases.

Lol 1 drop of liquid won't kill a PC.

I dumped a few table spoons of water in my PC, it's fine.

Fans won't suck liquid in

One drop of liquid would not fry your rig.

Aside from that fact that it would never make it inside, it would have to come into contact with something that has power running to it. Just touching your video card, or ram, or cooler, mobo etc would not fry anything buddy. It would have to land somewhere VERY specific. Rather impossible.

Not to mention it wouldn't obliterate your entire rig. In the 1/10000000000 chance this actually happened, and the liquid actually did damage, it would damage one component, not the whole rig.

Just relax, drink your soda, and play games.

EDIT: On a side note, different brands of soda don't spray all over the place. That is caused by you shaking the drink and causing the pressure, etc.

No company is going to give out a drink that will spray soda in every direction upon opening.

No. The liquid has to make it on to the motherboard, short out 2 traces, and short it out in such a way that the built in protection circuits don't get a chance to do their job. odds are very low.

And even if it managed to make it's way all the way from the outside of your case and onto the PCBs of the PSU/GPU/Mobo, you could probably just dry it out and be ok. Linus left a laptop in the rain and revived it. I dumped a pot of hot tea on my laptop and revived it.

I will never understand these paranoia posts about highly unlikely things...like that guy who unplugs his computer every night a few days ago. I'd hate to see how these guys would handle having a child.

Change the position of your PC to your non drinking side. Maybe try some non-soda options for your daily drink since they are very high in sugar.

But all joking aside: Post a picture of the position of your rig, so that we can ridicule your choice of anything visible in the picture and then maybe give you some options.

Hahaha lololol. ROFL. This reply made my night.

The kid would be wrapped in bubble wrap from post womb until teenage years when parents want to throttle them sometimes. ;)

You must live in the international space station if you are worried about drinks getting in that thing...or you are resting drinks right on top of the case.
