Far Cry 4 Recommended Settings....

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone who owns Far Cry 4 can help me out. Based on your personal settings and experience with Far Cry 4, what are the best graphical settings for the game? I don't know how I feel about the darkness that comes with some settings, like when God Rays are enables with HBAO+, and some of the AA settings.

I realize this is probably completely subjective, I was just wondering what others have their graphics set at and what others think looks the best, or the best combination.

I have a GTX 980 SC, just incase that helps with what settings I can play.

Thanks!

You can easily play on nvidia.

I play on very high on my system and get about 45-50 average fps.

He's not asking how well he can run it or on what settings, he has a 980 SC, he can max it out easy...

He wants to know what combination of settings look the best in other peoples opinions

Thank you for your reply.

Do you find that certain combinations of settings leave the game looking dark and some AA options have a huge hit on FPS, but doesn't really make much of a difference in jaggies?

Hmm there was a HBAO option that made the game darker but thats has been fixed.

Otherwise , HBAO is good , godrays are good and FUR is meh for the performance hit.

Crank it up to the max and disable fur , I use hbao+ personally.

That was another option I wasn't too impressed with...as far as the hit vs the effect.

I have not had too much luck using the optimized settings with GeForce Experience in most games.

Precisely! Thank you.

I may know what you're asking, however I have no opinion as I'm stuck with a 660... I currently play on the preset medium with no anti-aliasing or anything and I manage about 50fps...

Roll on next month so I can order a 970  :P

Geforce experience's 'optimized' settings never worked for me, always put the setting way too high or way to low so now I just do it manually.

Also, a 970 should be able to run on ultra, you'll just have to adjust things like godrays and anti-aliasing until you get solid fps.

Nvidia doesn't exist anymore. They patched it out for some reason.

Easily maxed out 1080p but 1440p will be a bit different.

TXAA looks nice as fuck, HBAO+ and Soft Shadows is a nice touch since you have the hardware to run it.

Everything else Ultra..

I had to turn off Soft Shadows and turn on SMAA and I get a constant 60.

IMHO, having a 780, just let everything on ultra apart from shadows (medium) and it will run epically... I know soft shadows are amazing, but they are the hardest thing after the AA for the GPU... Middle setting is the most similar, and they dont look shitty as in low (and no one with a 980 wants to have sth on low, come on...). As for the AA, i took the SMAA..

NOT YOU TOO. YOUR STUPID 970 HAS 4GB OF RAM NOT 3.5GB FFS

My friend plays on ultra at 40fps on a 4gb 760...

He could have a 144Hz monitor, you never know.

hmm... you never know...

Turns out he has a 1440p monitor so i'm guessing he's running it at 1440p..

I really cannot notice a huge difference between some of the AA settings.

Both fur settings can and will take at least 10 FPS off of performance.
