My mom is letting me buy her car off of her since she doesn't like it anymore. She was gonna sell it to a third party but. She loves me. So 2009 Chevy Impala LT it is :D It's currently completely stock, any suggestions on anything to do to it? Nothing crazy..

I want to upgrade the speakers currently and maybe get a little more power out of the engine. Any suggestions that aren't insane?

Edit: I live in the midwest, where we have terrible roads and even worse winters, so lowering the car would never be an option

Not sure why you would ever lower an Impala. But still

for a Impala ? I don't think so... rims, tint, sound system, you could put a performance air filter, air spacer and a programming computer but... Impala?

She got it because it was reliable, and safe while also being a bit fun to drive. It's fairly new as she got it brand new, under 50K miles on it. So I want to keep this for a long time.

I'm not saying otherwise, I think is a pretty reliable and fast car if the police used it so much... I'm only saying if you are young and wanting to do some "performance upgrades" to a 09 Impala I don't see that much headroom to work on it..

I don't want to get crazy power out of it. Just a little bit more than what it currently has. It's great as it is. But being a teen I want just a little bit more power.

I think you meant 3.5L

It has the 3.5L V6

Are you looking for luxury or sporty feel?

Me personally, I'd go for a luxury feel since its such a big car. I'd put a nice receiver inside, then get some new speakers for the doors/dash, after that grab a subwoofer or two, then I'd grab a nice intake and exhaust. Another smooth thing you could do is change the seats out for some of those leather bucket seats.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

A mix of both is what I'd love, I'd love the luxury feel inside, but I'd like the car to be just a bit sportier.

 almost the same.

 Spot on...

If OP is going to a shop to get the parts installed then he can pretty much buy a tractor air filter and they will be able to fit it in there. When I'm doing it myself I buy the parts that will fit without having to do any other changes to the current setup.

Well if you're not going to lower it, any other exterior mods are going to look a bit silly with standard ride height. A good sound system is always a good place to start though. If you want more power, a remap, which may require an aftermarket ECU, is a good place to start. Intakes on their own do virtually nothing, and a poorly designed one can cost you power.
