Ok guys this will be the finalized revision of my new build/upgrade. The list below is what Ive picked out (minus PSU/Case as my current ones are more than suffcient)

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tKfbxr

What I would like from you, is this:

1) Any bottlenecking or compatability issues I do not see?

2) Is there a part I am over looking for performance/dollar ratio that would be better?

3) Cost reductions that will not sacrifice power (Trying to keep it around $1500ish not counting a new monitor)

4) Monitor selection? Im still new to monitors, but id like 1080p, with I think 144hz refresh and roughly 27"+ in size. (Or is getting 1080p a waste of time as its getting old now)

Use of this machine will obviously be gaming.  BF4, ARMA 2 - DayZ, H1Z1, SWTOR, etc etc. I'd like to see a significant jump in FPS, as with most I think Im hovering around 30ish currently.

Thank you in advance!!!!

there are places on the internet where you can get Windows for $20 or less, and I would personally go with 8GB of memory instead of 16GB. But that's just me.

the 980 isn't a great "price:performance" card. a 970 is a better value for the performance if you're planning on playing 1080p 144hz.

I would also recommend picking up an SSD.

Your build is also missing a power supply and a case.

No real bottlenecks in your build.

I already have a 1000w Rosewill PSU, and Im not very comfortable with doing ssd/hdd dual setup. I dont need programs or games to be super super fast loading.  although I am curious why the drop from 980 to 970?

Would I need to SLI a 970?

no, the 970 only has about 20% worse performance than the 980.

the 980 is completely overkill for 1080p IMHO

also, don't get a sound card. get a DAC/Amp instead.

Get a 60hz or 120hz monitor, get a good SSD (Samsung is best), get a 970 instead of a 980, ditch the sound card (unless you neeeed it) also unless you already have it; a case and power supply would be a nice benefit to your overall experience. xD

If its overkill for 1080p would I be able to handle 1440 without issue on the 980?
