780 ti - Why is this so much cheaper?

BlazingRaptor

Hi,

The standard for the 780 ti seems to be holding fairly steady at around £550.. I'm still looking to be buying another of these to run in SLI but that will come a bit further down the line.

The question for this post is:

Why is this <£400?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/PNY-GeForce-780Ti-XLR8-Performances/dp/B00LHIPLK8/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1424259069&sr=1-6&keywords=780+ti#productDetails

Whereas this is about ~£150 more expensive?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-NVIDIA-780Ti-Graphics-Card/dp/B00HGB8SLY/ref=sr_1_4?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1424259069&sr=1-4&keywords=780+ti

What is the main differences between the cards and does it warrant the price difference?

Many thanks,

Andy

PNY Cards are always cheap and does the same job as reference card.

Gigabyte has higher clock speeds than PNY and it's cooler is really good.

PNY is still worth. Get that and put it in SLI.

The cooler and core clocks.

And no.

that and pny might have allowed amazon(and others) to sell their products at a much lower price to clear stocks. Whereas gigabyte did not.

Well gigabyte tends to have better cooling systems and higher clocks, therefore higher prices, but it's not even NEAR to be worth it to put the extra 150£ for that

The 780 has been discontinued, and hardware rarely goes down in price because of it, unless the stores want to get rid of stock.
