Sigh... Hey guys. So I had problems with my SSD last night, can read my previous post here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/311411-windows-81-not-booting/

Well it fucked up again and now it's only booting when plugged into my secondary rig. When it's in my main rig its just on the loop.

I don't know what else to do besides formatting and doing "Refresh your PC", both of which I would very much like to avoid.

If someone helps me with this I'll suck their fucking dick.

Yep. I can't even get into safe mode but when I try to repair from the USB it just locks up.

Honest question, have you tried simply replacing the SATA cable? Also if your motherboard has a secondary controller for SATA ports, try that.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Didn't work. I'm on the verge of smashing this son of a bitch up and buying a 500gb evo pro

What I would recommend if you have restored your OC setting back to normal, to back up your data and then do a clean install of Windows.

I've tried stock settings and all that but it didn't change anything. Formatting is the very last thing I want to resort to.

Yeah but don't worry, while removing the SSD to put back into my main computer, the SATA connector broke off along with a pin. I tried to solder it back on but ended up fucking it up by accidentally removing the solder pad (the point on the PCB where the pin connects to). So I am pretty much left with a dead SSD at the moment unless I can figure out a way to attach the pin or get an expert that knows about PCB's and soldering. If anyone has advice or know of a place that could fix the pin on the SSD, please share.

Gonna buy an 850 Evo 250GB tomorrow.

When you say you can't go in Safe Mode. What do you mean exactly?

Not that it matters now, but I was trying to hit F8 and it wouldn't bring me to the advanced settings window or whatever. The SSD is pretty much fucked now, the SATA pins broke off and can't be resoldered on because the solder pads came off the PCB.

There is no F8 in Windows 8 and 10. It was removed as system that are fully UEFI ready will power upfrom the button "click" sound to your desktop with Windows 8/10, fully loaded in 6 sec or less. So it is impossible to catch the F8 screen. To access it you need to fail boot the system 3 times, then a recovery menu will show.

Hrm... I looked it up and I read that it was still there but as you said it was impossible to catch. I got to the fail boot screen but that too was stuck in a loop.

If you are unable to repair the Disk, and you can not boot into safe mode, you're going to have to re install Windows, If losing data is the problem you could make a bootable Linux LiveUSB and mount the Windows partition and backup all your data to another disk through the LiveUSB

Main PC: CPU: i7-4770k RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX Blu SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 256GB HDD: 1TB WD Blue GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 770 2GB PSU: Corsair CX600M Case: Bitfenix Shinobi OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

Laptop: ASUS N56VJ

Its only disabled on systems that HAVE UEFI. Not all computers running Windows 8 have UEFI, as a matter of fact, most people that build their own have UEFI mode turned off in favor of "Legacy" BIOS Mode.

No. No more F8 on Windows 8 and 10, whether you use BIOS or UEFI.
