Best $200~ PC headphones setup

MxDem

May I ask why? Seems like you could, according to this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BVT4M30/

You're right, no Idea where I got that from.

Umm, it's a big price difference between M50x and M40x. Would you happen to have a comparison between the two?

With that budget, I won't even touch those 2. I'd go for MDR-1R, $178 @Amazonic. It stomps those 2 up and down....

And about this, a dac's opamp could only pump up the voltage, often raising it up to line level, about 2V. But it won't be able to back it up with adequate current, that's where the amp part comes in.. You will get sounds plugging it straight to a dac with line out, but it won't be pretty.

Thank you, It's clear now :)

Also, I got this from another forum:

"The M50 are quite balanced with a sharp treble and dull mids but good bass. The MDR-1R are more Mid focused and warm with a more relaxing sound. The overall quality of the 1R is superior."

I am looking for good bass and sharp treble, so I'm going with the M50x I believe. I appreciate your help, though

If you're referring to this:

Those are wireless headphones. The D03K can provide a signal for the base station to transmit, but it wont power wired headphone properly without an amp in-between.

In that case the dt770 would be better. The m50 is overpriced and overhyped.

That was an interesting recommendation, they sound good, but M50x do feel more balanced. I'm pretty much settled on those, I'm just not sure about getting them on their own or with a FiiO E6 for $20 more and a FiiO D3 DAC for $30 more

In that case, get the M50x and enjoy. Never EVER try on the MDR-1R afterward, because you won't be able to kick your head hard enough for going with the M50 :)

If you want neutral headphones then Sony MDR7506 would be better than the M50x. The M50x is terrible for the price.

Actually, he got more experiences, as in he tried those headphones himself, instead of listening to random guys in youtube. But yeah, whatever rock your boat, I guess...

Those guys actually have no idea what they're talking about. The m50x is bass heavy but the Sony has rolled off extreme highs and lows but in reality, these too sounds similar and one is about half the price.

And I have no experience, no way to test ANY of them and I have to blindly buy whatever I go for and I'll be stuck with it. Now, you tell me, how do I decide which two random dudes I should listen to? The one who gives me nothing but Sony's, or the one that makes the same song comparizon between at least 3 different Makes and Models which I can actually kinda listen to, even to have some reference?... Don't be rude, I'm just trying to think of every single detail here

I never recommended multiple sony's. It was just the one and dt770s although the 1r is great to and also better than the m50x.if you look at my signature I actually own zero sony's right now so I'm not bias towards them.

That's because that's the fact. I said it, Nanner said it, the guy you quoted said it, a little search all over this sub forum and you'll see something that's the same, yet you still wanna go with M50x. That's why I thought it was funny when you said Nanner's the one who's biased to one thing, when it's you who are clearly infatuated with M50x. That's fine, it's your money after all. We were just trying to save your bucks by giving advice of what's the best bang for bucks, so what do we know, right?

Oh, and you'll know the guy in the video have minimal knowledge in audio when you see him comparing DT770 to Beats Solo. Think of it like a video comparing a Lancer Evolution, a Subaru Imprezza, and a Honda Jazz. You'll know immediately the guy got minimum knowledge on the field. Beats 2nd generation are actually okay-ish, but generation 1?

This is what happens when you put too much stock in subjective reviews.
