usb to audio jack

Go to solution Solved by MRL,

Okay you want a usb sound card

no he doesn't

his headphone is using USB interface, and right now he wants to use his headphone on his mobile phone using 3.5mm audio jack

and as far as I can tell, there's no way you can do that. USB headphones acts like a USB sound card/DAC. As far as my electronics engineering knowledge goes, it is much easier for you to find a new pair of headphone that does 3.5mm rather than converting it.

a year back i bought a headphones called zebronic iron head but i only bought it for pc

now i need to turn the usb in a audio jack so i can connect to my mobile phone

pls send me the link where i can buy

If that actually works, your headphones might need the power the USB gives (and possibly won't be given by the 3.5mm port)

It's easier on PC, since it is just 1 port. You sometimes have compatibility issue with mobile devices, but you are pretty guaranteed it will work on consoles, PC, Mac etc (devices with USB ports)

Qoute people when answering them, that way they get notified of your post.

Either way, I am not sure if it would be compatible (as I said earlier). Look at some of the reviews or questions of the product probably.

My bad, I was not specific. Surround 5.1 and 7.1 via USB suck, because thats only virtual surround, I know from experience. Owned a pair of virtual 7.1 - Genius GX Gaming CAVIMANUS HS-G700V and real 5.1 Roccat Kave :) but that is kinda offtopic here :D

Virtual surround can be good through USB it depends on the headphone, actually USB can be much better at some situations.

Long story short: You can't just convert USB to a 3.5mm plug

What you can do is if you're next to your computer, you can bride the output.

Heres a diagram: phone > 3.5MM audio cable > line in > windows with enabled microphone playback on "line in"  > headphones plugged into a USB port.

There might be devices that emulate what the computer would do but I'm not too sure.

When a headset is plugged in using USB, you are bypassing the audio on your PC (usually on board) which certainly with older hardware, is a good thing. It will be a better sound card which is built into the headset over what is on an older PC. Nowadays, it's less of a problem. I actually like this because when you plug the headset in, Windows will default to that device and remember any settings you've chosen for it, when you unplug it, the devices will go back to how they were before. Nice.

To say they suck, why? I don't have a USB headset as such, but I do have an amp on my desk which connects to my PC for when I want to use speakers, then, I have an Asus Xonar U3 USB sound card for my headphone amplifier. I have to manually switch devices in Windows for this which is a fair sight more convenient than having to have a load of analogue cables daisy chained together.

Sound card ?? It's called a DAC "Digital Analog Convertor".

All sound cards have DACs. A USB headset will incorporate a USB sound card.

By definition sound cards are installed in your PC and headphone DACs aren't installed in your PC, there is no sound card in a headphone.
