So I noticed some pretty good deals on large flash drives (like this).  If I'm looking for a mobile storage solution, would this be meaningfully faster than a portable mechanical hard drive?  I'd be paying about twice as much per gigabyte, but it's so much more compact, less fragile, but less cost effective.

That drives says a theoretical read write speeds of 90MB/s and 55MB/s which would put it faster than most portable 2.5" mechanical drive that run at 5400 RPM. Only downside I see is the lifespan of a product like this where the chips inside may of a high quality in flash drive perspective but may not be comparable to SSD quality flash and may deteriorate compared to a mechanical drive that is kept in good condition.
