Speed up Minecraft Modpack loading?

It's using multimc. I do plan on getting an SSD pretty soon, but until then and in addition I was wondering if anyone had tips on speeding up launch. Right now it takes anywhere from 5-10 minutes which is ridiculous. In the spoiler below is a modlist, do any of these slow the game down dramatically? I'm using a sphax 128x texture pack in addition.

Java args

-XX:NewRatio=3 -XX:SurvivorRatio=3 -XX:TargetSurvivorRatio=80 -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=8 -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=10 -XX:GCPauseIntervalMillis=50 -XX:MaxGCMinorPauseMillis=7 -XX:+ExplicitGCInvokesConcurrent -XX:+UseCMSInitiatingOccupancyOnly -XX:CMSInitiatingOccupancyFraction=60 -XX:+BindGCTaskThreadsToCPUs -Xnoclassgc

512mb permgen

Minimum memory: 2gb

Maximum memory 4gb

Using JRE7.

Modlist; sorry for crappy format

see if you can defrag your hard drive, it might help.

Select the game's process in task manager, and change the priority to high?

You could try using OptiFine - no experience with it myself, but i've seen it mentioned a few times. Not sure if it'd help much with loading though. The only way to boost that is by getting an Intel chip and OC'ing it, and an SSD.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

perhaps load it into a ramdisk and have it execute from that, then unload from it when done playing?

anyway to physically make your hdd read faster will make mods boost faster, whether that'd be getting an ssd or defragmenting.

I do that regularly, not much difference.

Using optifine, although a new version has since been released. I've tried looking for the priority thing and can't find it in 8.1

Hmm maybe, I don't have any ramdisk software or anything though

optifine is an in-game sort of thing

smoothly renders the game and offers better optimization due to the shit java code that powers it

I defrag regularly, how much do you think an ssd will improve upon my launch speed? I'm gonna be getting one soon

Theoretically as fast as the speed improvement , but that would probably be like 5x faster.

you can get a super cheap ssd say a 16gb one just for minecraft, be the difference between night and day and only cost around 5 beers (I find pricing things in beers makes it easier to understand!)
