Apparently POSReady doesn't have a defrag program... Which is an issue. So, what is the best defragging program out there?

The best one is actually O&O Defrag, with it's ability to do a deep defrag, that means puts files that mostly read one after another, well, one after another on the disk, making Windows boost significantly faster, and software too. Noticeable difference with even a 7200 RPM HDD defrag with WIndows defrag before that.

It is however paying. But you can try it out for 30-days. I use it all the time once I finish installing a system that uses an HDD. The performance boost is notable by the users themselves.

The process is as you can imagine very time consuming. A drive filled with data can easily take up several hours. Definitely something you want to leave over night. The good news is that it is not something you do often.

The program does normal formats if you want, which those are quick, and well done.

If you want a standard defrag, and free, Defraggler will do the trick.

Important note: is POSReady has System restore, you might as well safe you time by disabling, deleting the restore points and restart the system, as they'll be corrupted after defragmentation, as only Windows defrag knows where the system restore point data is. Third party defrag will think it's data that needs to be defraged and move it all around the disk. Once the defrag is complete, feel free to re-enable it.

Ugh, paying. Ew. I have less than 3GB filled up on this 7200.7, but this PIII and the amount of RAM strangle it. So I guess Defraggler will have to do.
