I know it makes the game smoother and such but what exactly is it that changes?

 

All advantages and cons if any plz

It just makes it so the panel can display more images per second..

The amount of times a monitor can display a new image each second ???

60Hz vs 144Hz

Lets say you can achieve 200FPS and you have a 60Hz monitor so you will only be able to display 60FPS, but if you have a 144Hz monitor you will be able to display 144FPS.

60Hz vs 144Hz

60Hz monitor wipe and put a new image on the screen 60 times a second.

144Hz of course wipe and write on the screen a new image 144 times a second.

 

Not that difficult when you think about it

Hz means unit per second. So a 60 Hz monitor changes frames 60 times a second. A 144 Hz does it 144 times a second. The Hz the frames are changing at trick our eyes into perceiving it as motion. Same way people make art on those little sticky note pads and rapidly flip the pages to make it move. The higher the Hz the less our eyes are able to distinguish individual frames and the motion appears "smoother".

The looks will be the same but it will be smother, basically more FPS = more smoothness = less latency = faster reaction = advantage = better animation = less ghosting = less blur
