I recently had to step away from technology and focus on things that mattered more at the time...but now I'm so far out of the loop its not funny. What are good GPU's to put in my build that should finally be able to build here soon? I don't want to spend a insane amount of money....like less then 800 USD dollars on one.

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.

800 dollars just for the GPU?

boy you are rich

Also I am now the TS for the Build contest

GTX980 will be nice for single GPU solution

or wait for the R9 300 series before sinking for dual GPUs if the prices are cheap (I WISH!!!)

How soon will you be building it? I recommend waiting until the AMD 3xx series comes out. They're supposed to be coming around June I believe, and they're supposed to be pretty damn awesome.

GTX 980

Thanks, I was more referencing to the brands, loudness, and sheer power of them tho. I don't want to have to worry about lagging or overheating.

GTX 980 is the best you can get gaming-wise and the most efficient currently.

GTX 970 is also a good option as the performance per dollar is great.

Don't worry about overheating and lagging probably won't be an issue unless you have a 4K display.

blackshades on

Hahaha...thats top dollar tho..been saving for this desktop forever. This broken piece of laptop isn't cutting it anymore (I'm way too hard on things...which is why I like desktops better).

wait till the r9 300 series cards are due.

you'd probably get a much better gpu than the current offerings.

I'm not bashing nvidia, I just think the 980 is just a bit bland.. its not what I was expecting from them.

If you have a lot of money a gtx 980 is the best high end card but carries a price premium, 970 is much better value and still solid performance, maybe a liquid cooled 970 or even 980 if you can stretch that far
