860K for HTPC.

buildin a portable lan/htpc rig. gonna be playing on a 1080 42" tv. can 860k handle csgo, lol, and skyrim? doesn't have to be maxed out. whats the highest graphics you can pair? i already have intel in my main rig, so i thought to  test amd fm2+ as a portable rig

Well the 860k is between the pentium and I3 so it should be able to play them at low-medium at 1080p

Sure, the 860k will handle those games pretty well. Pair it with the fastest gpu you can get for 150 bucks

I think for those games a pentium is a better choice but the 860k is a great cpu for the price and handles everything.

 

I just dont recommend it on builds because no viable upgrade path on fm2+

Highest graphics card you can pair is a 960/280. In your case an r7 260x would be more than enough. Cheapest one is less than a 100$.

Source Engine games run smooth on my laptop with a 2nd gen dual core i5, so I think it'll be fine.

Yeah 860k should be able to handle most things rather well just remember to get a graphics card even though it's an FM2+ it's a CPU not an APU... (no integrated graphics)
