Difference between k702 and k701

My tax returns are larger than normal. (thanks obama) And i'm going to replace the K702's I had for years that my ex accidentally broke. It was my fault for leaving them on the back seat not hers. Anyway for some reason the akg website doesn't list specs on the 701's. They're Amazon pricing is fairly close but the 702's are about 40 dollars cheaper at the lowest price i can find. I can get the 701's in the Quincy Jones signature with the revamped audio profiles for about 184 and the 702's for about 225. So what's the difference.

I'd get whichever one doesn't have the torture bumps on the headband.

They're similar. Q701 will have a bit more going on in the bass, other than that I'd go for the cheaper one.

Unless you want to pay $50 more on what is essentially a popular anime markup (Miophones beyatch), no reason to go K701.

k701 divided by k702, the k's cancel out to leave 701/702 which is .998.

Actually Optimum Pro Audio has been selling the K702 for $199 for awhile now.  They go out of stock often but at least advertise the flat (no bumps) headband:

Just found this stated on a tech website. 

 

The 702s are identical to the 701s except that the pads on the 02s are thicker which allows a more "around the head" speaker-like experience with regards to soundstage.....The 702s also have a detachable cable and do not come with the little stand that is supplied with the 701s........This pair of headphones is marketed as the studio version of the K701.
