Need Clarification on GTX970

So I recently read about the GTX970 and one of the questions I had was that it says that this issue happens above 3.5gb of vram. The GTX 970 comes with 4gb  of vram but how come most laptops that use a GTX970 comes with only 3gb vra,. Does this mean that these laptops don't have this issue. Thanks for your help and any replies are very appreciate.

LAptops have a 970M and not a 970, a totally different chip so they are unaffected

970m is not a 970

The 970M is a completely different design (with regards to layout and the like), and so it doesn't have the issue

the 970m has a 192bit memory bus, and can come with 3GB or 6GB of Ram. It's basically what people speculate a 660Ti will be, except the 970m has lower clock speeds to keep temperatures down inside small form factors.

 

in short, 970m is fine.
