USB vs PS/2

Go to solution Solved by STRMfrmXMN,

Thank you all! I alredy knew that PS/2 is faster, has 0 input lag, and is a direct hardware interface, but I wanted to know about media keys, macros, and RBG lighting. I do have on more question which is, if I were to use a USB to PS/2 converter and sacrifice RGB lighting, and somehow the CUE still worked, would I still be able to chage DPI settings?

All that stuff works through USB 3 or dual USB 2 so I highly doubt it would. Besides, the benefits of PS2 over USB are very few nowadays. It's lag free but if you have a decently powerful computer you'll never notice things like text sputtering in front of you because the hardware had to catch up and the limitless rollover is almost useless because most people have ten fingers anyways that can't beat the hardware to the punch.

Hey, so I was wondering if you could still use the Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) Software if i have a K 70 and a M 65 plugged into PS/2 with adapters, rather than just straight into USB. Will it still work? Will there be any polling, or DPI performance hit? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Apparently PS/2 is actually even better then USB, since there's infinite-key rollover and practically 0ms input lag.

Well, from a purist standpoint. I don't think you get all the fancy keyboard features if your keyboard's software requires USB.

USB is what enables keyboards to have customisable LED RGB lighting, media keys, displays, additional hotkeys, and so many other things...

For infinite-key rollover I bet it would be good if you type with your face bashing the keyboard, the input lag isn't that much different, how much could it be 1ms ???

If you ever have the choice between PS/2 and USB on the same keyboard, always choose PS/2. It's a direct hardware interconnect.

Media keys do work with PS/2. However non-standard hotkeys/macros and RGB controls do require USB.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
