Virus trouble or something?

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some problem i can have. All day today, and yesterday I believe, whenever I'd search around on the internet, go to sites, etc. I'd get redirected to pages that keep telling me I need to update my adobe or java (I'm not an idiot, I'm not updating from those sites).

 

Problem is I keep getting redirected to those kind of pages almost every other site I go, it saying I need the latest adobe update, or etc. I know it's most likely some kind of phishing, but how do I stop it? My java and adobe are up-to-date, I know how to handle things on the internet and don't download obvious bad things.

 

As for what virus protection I use it's webroot which has never caused me any trouble. Only thing left to say I guess is what browser im using, it being Firefox

If you're running Windows it's bound to happen sooner or later.

Raze it and start over.

Webroot is rather shit, IMO. Avast and Malwarebytes are the way to go, IMHO.

I suggest you run a scan from both malwarebytes and Avast as they are both FREE. The sooner the better. That stuff is atrocious and annoying. Get rid of it asap.

I downloaded malwarebytes, and cleared up some stuff, and also restarted my pc just now. not sure if it worked yet, will have to see.

Check Firefox for any extensions it may have added before being deleted.

Start going through your add-ons  that have been installed and delete any that you don't recognize. Also you should google the links that you are getting sent to and it might tell you which programs to uninstall from your computer.

as for plugins, all i have are shockwave, google plugin, intel related ones, nvidia related ones, a vlc one, and java. as for extensions youtube center and adblocker

This is probably just a browser extension, they can usually hide as little DLL's or modified exe's. Completely uninstall all browsers, reinstall.

I think i might have fixed it, i went to firefox's site and did something to refresh my browser. I think it's fixed

Thats what my Father used to say about Mcafee.  

 

Webroot honestly, not only lacks in detection but its features should be considered worse than free antivirus suites.  I personally recommend AVG but Avast, Avira and Comodo are all other free options that are better than Webroot.  

 

Either way, download Malwarebytes.
