3570k or 4670k for gaming and editing

I just need to know which one will serve my purpose well of gaming and editing. I mainly wanted to get a good cpu as I will not upgrade the platform in less than 2 years and I'm also completely fine with z77 and I don't think I need those extra features of z87. I'm also quite worried that if haswell will heat up significantly more than the 3570k or would it be just the same temps between them.

My Planed Rig:

------------------

3570k or 4670k

asus p8z77 m pro or asus z87-a

Hyper 212 evo cpu cooler (will upgrade in 6-7 months)

XFX HD 7850 (will also upgrade in 6-7 months)

500GB western digital caviar blue

8gb corsair vengence ram

Corsair CX600 PSU

HAF 912 Cooler Master Case

How much gaming in relation to editing?

If you're by a micro center, then haswell. Otherwise it is up to you if you want to spend the money on a newer chip. I wouldn't worry too much about temps of the haswell, especially if you're planning to upgrade the cooling.

Also as a note, CS5 (for windows) does not support OpenCL so you wont be able to boost your editing performance with your AMD card. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind for your upgrade.

If you can try get a 3770k or 4770k, other wise grab your self the 4670k since ivybridge and haswell overclock the same, there will be more performance going haswell.

I agree above.

However, if you plan on editing with Adobe suite products, you should get a Nvidia card, as Adobe products are accelerated with CUDA.

OpenCL support isn't supported yet, and wont be until Adobe releases the update to their suite of products.

You should also get a SSD, as SSDs help a lot with pc performance, even with slow laggy PCs.

I would chose the 3570k due to the fact that you have a better chance of getting a better overclocking friendly CPU than haswell although the Z87 motherboards are so rich in features i don't see the haswell as a proper choice at this moment. However the next batch of haswell CPUs may be better than the current one and if so then i would go haswell. You may also want to look at the x9 CPUs and boards because the 3820 is a good CPU.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

Since you already have a Z77 platform, I would just stick with the 3570k. The 4670k is only a 10% difference in real world performance. It will be very hard for you to even notice a difference in the two chips. Now if you are in the market for replacing your motherboard any ways then i would say it would be a good choice to make the switch to Haswell.
