760 Mars high temps?

Gendo

Hi, just recently got this card and noticed it runs very hot compared to reviews/benchmarks :(

It hits 82c very fast, before i had dual 270x with no gap in between them and it was cooler, would replacing the thermal paste help or am i missing something?

I hope he got it for near free. A 780ti is pretty cheap now adays around the 400 mark and just as fast in games with great sli support and twice as fast in games with bad support. lol

why did you get that card ?

Needed the Cuda cores for 3D modelling and such, the Mars was at a good price and good looking, also hoped to get lower temps than before with a neater system.

But now given the temps i can't even OC it and runs as the same performance as 2x270x.

no. its a work of overprice asus bullshit. you could get a much better card for that 300$ (ie 970 or r9 290)

why would you even want a dual gpu card like this. its overpriced. even years after it came out

Just took it apart and yes it is ;) Had a lot of paste on it, after replacing with Noctua one i get 79/75c as opposed to 82/82c.

Sorry meant £250 which here is cheaper than a 290x.

It's as fast as any top single Gpu and they are not cheaper, even the 290x it's more expensive.

barely. but with the 290X you can add other gpu's and get double the power (more or less)

£250? Not bad. AFAIK they go for around £350-£400

That's a lot cheaper than last gen 780Ti

Do you even know what Cuda cores are?

The Mars has 2304 and the 980 has 2048, if you work with your PC those make a big difference.

Well you do realise that more cores doesnt mean better performance? Its like saying that the 780 is better than the 980 due to having more "cores". The architecture is important, and maxwell offers 40% better per-core performance than Kepler.
