I need some help deciding what gpu to get. My budget is about 300-325 dollars, and I use my PC mostly for gaming. I don't mind a hot and loud card, but I'd prefer if it was SLI/CrossfireX enabled for future.

Thanks.

Stretch your budget a tiny bit and you have a GTX 970.

That's really good. Otherwise, you could go for a R9 290

AMD is the superior way to go. You get more for your money imo and that is what counts. The nVidia f#&boys can argue about their lower energy usage, but the AMD option is more worth to me at least.

Con:

You don't win a free toaster with a purchase of a 290X

Well, thats arguable considering the heat output of that thing... ;)

Well that's exacly what I'm trying to decide. AMD or Nvidia.

Probably a 290X if you don't care about noise.

There are reasons to go for either one, please don't try to start a flame war or something ~_~

Just buy a GPU cooler, though that will add about $40 ~ $60 more

R9 290X might beat the GTX 970 but its just gets so darn hot that theres almost no OC headroom whereas the 970 can be oc'd pretty easily. Dont get me wrong i like amd cards and own one myself but i'd never buy a Hawaii GPU except maybe the Sapphire Vapor-X Tri-X :P

Dont buy a gtx 970.

Nvidia have lied about their memory configuration on that card.

Get a 290x.

Or wait for new cards from AMD.
