Two errors in the recent Techquickie video (FreeSync)

Freesync as Fast As Possible

There are two errors/flaws in this video.

#1: At 0:54:

Since the monitor is getting more than one image per second.

... which should be "per refresh cycle" or something similar.

#2: At 4:08, Linus determines that a Freesync Monitor will not work with an Nvidia graphics card and a G-Sync monitor will not work with an AMD card, without pointing out the obvious reason for this. G-Sync does not work with AMD cards because Nvidia does not disclose the proprietary standard, and AdaptiveSync does not work because Nvidia refuses to support it, even though it's an open standard.

Personally, I wish we'd all just get along

However, pointing at Nvidia for preventing exactly this by being the douchebags that they are did not take place. This does not help in working against the widespread suspicion of Linus being biased towards Nvidia.

So what, if he's biased towards Nvidia, he can't wish for refresh rate standards to be unified?

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

I wouldn't call Nvidia douchebags for not supporting a competitor for a technology THEY made which in the long run still bettered gaming for the whole community. Yes, they need to make some money out of g-sync, because R&D is a huge expense.

Of course he can, but pointing out the reason why this is just a wish and not reality? Nah ...

It's not actually that why I'm calling them douchebags. "Fragmenting the market into additional segments [...] does not maintain the benefits of hardware abstractions or 'cross vendor support'." Guess whose position on Mantle this is. Maybe the term "hypocrite" would be more adequate.

This picture was relevant 4 years ago, and it will be relevant until somebody like Musk takes over the entire IT industry.

He could mention that but still. Look at it from a marketing standpoint, they invent G-Sync why would they support any other thing possibly alienating their own.

500th post hype :D
