Cloning A HDD

Hey, ya'll - I tried to clone an 80GB HDD's data to a 1TB HDD. When I did so, it repartitioned my 1TB as an 80GB drive. Why could this have been? And also - I need to find a free cloning software. Thanks.

Because it made an exact clone of the boot sector, MFT, everything, sector for sector. Create a partition in the rest of the space in Disk Management and extend the 80GB into that.

I have had the best of luck with Macrium True Reflect. Even when samsung's utility failed, it still seems to work.

I always use Acronis true image which works great. I believe it costs money but there might be a trial. I got a free key when i bought my MX100. Other than that i can't really vouch for any other other software.

Copy paste the data....?

Copy paste doesnt make a bootable drive.

Just expand the partition to 1TB.

Easus is also a good program, I've used it a few times without any issues.
