The problem is you have cherry picked an almost three year old game.

It's far broader than F1 2013, sigh.

See the whole benchmarks , the i3 wins more often that the fx cpus.

Also :

In this review the i3 wins every single benchmark.

actually on that page I see 3 benchmarks where the 8350 wins and only 2 where the i3 wins... the red one in those benchmarks is the 8370e, not the 8350 or 8370. In the last benchmark the i3 even looses to a phenom II and an fx 8150.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

First two benchmarks i3 wins , tomb raider is a tie , last 2 benchmarks fx 8350 wins.

The i3 is cheaper however, its a tie so it competes with that cpu in gaming.

Anandtech are AMD haters. It's very easy to make FX chips look bad, all you have to do is leave them at stock speeds.

http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Processors/AMD-FX-8350-and-FX-6300-Processor-Review-Vishera-Breaks-Cover

Right, couple of things to point out.

1. The FX chips may not do so well in older lightly threaded games but that's to be expected. However, nigh on all of the time they provide a more than satisfactory FPS count. I can tell you now that my 8320 running at 4.9ghz absolutely slaughters any I3.

2. In newer more highly threaded games the FX are only within a 5-10 FPS margin of *any* CPU. This includes, but isn't limited to the 4790k, 4930k, 4960x and so on.

3. As we go into the future the general requirement for a game will be lots of cores at a crappy clock, just like the consoles they will be originally developed for.

In any highly threaded test the I3 is left completely in the dust. In fact, in any highly threaded test the I5 can not match the AMD either.

The worst part, however, is that the I3 and cheaper I5s are completely locked. So once you get clocking on the AMD you more than make up for its lower IPC.

The AMD is by far the much more wise choice. I believed the hype and bought a 3970x and have tested it for months and months and tbh? in gaming I notice no difference between it, which would cost over £800 and my 8320 clocked to 4.9ghz. I use Vsync because I'm one of those that, you know? can notice tearing, so that ATM locks me to 60 FPS any way. This is something else people do not take into consideration. The only noticeable difference between my FX 8320 and 7990 vs my 3970x with two Titan Blacks is that I can lay the MSAA/FSAA on really thick with the Titans (8X) and actually get away with it.

Tomb Raider is your typical example of a modern game coded for modern hardware. There is no discernible difference between the FX CPUs and the Intel ones. It's called a brick wall, I would get used to it.

Area 51 2014. Intel 5820k@ 4.4ghz. MSI X99.16gb Quad channel ram. AMD Fury X.Asus RAIDR.OCZ ARC 480gb SSD. Velociraptor 600gb. 2tb WD.

Its a better choice ? a dead socket with outdated tech?

I linked two publications anadatech and another one , prove me that anadatech are amd haters , your statement means nothing untill you do.

The oc argument doesnt hold up , the i3 is cheaper than the fx 8350 , when you add the oc equipament for the 8350 it is even more expensive.

Only it isn't a dead socket because AMD are still continuing to release CPUs for it. So that argument counts for squat, given Intel change sockets every year.

It has more PCIE bandwidth than any Z97 board too, so offers more than enough for a PC.

The I3 should not be compared to the FX 8. The I3 goes head to head with the FX 6300, and had you read that PCPER review you would see that it out muscles the I3 all day.

What's worse, however, is the fact that you are being an "Intel Witness". You know the type? they come knocking on your door desperately trying to convert you.

Fact is OP has already made his choice, so you're just clogging up his thread with bullshit.

AMD is going to release more desktops to am3+ ? BS.

I didnt clog the thread with no bs , a guy was asking for a 130 cpu from intel that competed with the fx 8350 and i provided one.

Keep in mind i didnt star this line of dialogue.

They've literally just launched the E cpus. 8320E 8370E etc. A great drop in upgrade if you had a Bulldozer CPU. On OCUK we're also finding out they're more than capable of surpassing the 5ghz mark, too, and 8320s are also being binned better and are reaching pretty insane clocks.

xebgt5.png

It's also possible they will release some kind of Steamroller CPU for AM3 too, as they said they would.

So that's what? *checks launch dates* October 12, 2011 So here we are over three years later and they're still releasing new CPUs for the socket.

Honestly, arguing over sockets has to be the most ridiculous thing you can do if you like Intel. They release a new socket that's no better than the last pretty much yearly, screwing over every one who bought one.

Stop cramming my notifications with worthless bull about whether AMD or Intel is better. Both are excellent, and there is a niche for each one. OP knows what they want. Shuddup.

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.
