We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”

The 5820k with 16gb will win easily

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

There is no such thing as a 4970K, but i guess you mean the 4790K.

My vote goes for the Hexacore, especially for video editing... if you take 4x4 GB now, you can still add another 4x4 kit later.

I'm sorry yes I meant 4790k

I can tell you one thing.

2GB RAM is aprox. for 3-4 minute of a video being in a real time render all the time, so for instance if you're gonna edit vids in Camtasia Studio or other program which doesn't have "Pre-render" function, like Adobe After Effects, go with more RAM, if not, go with teh CPU, but I actually never see mine "sinking" for more than 80% usage in the rendering process anyway... ^ ^

Not much idea of which to use x(

If rendering is one of your main workloads.

then a 5820k with 16GB quad channel memory no brainer.

I'll make some random music

Some montages

Might animate if I have time

Gotta say this: If you're into editing with sound and playing around that area... NEVER go into helms of After Effects. Then you go there only for better Key Light than Camtasia has and other less-basic effects, like randomizer and shape play.

But if you do, I'd choose Camtasia or at least Adobe Premier(or whatever it's called), since it has this no "pre-render whole project to hear the sound" and you can see the voice level waves at the timeline, whereas in AAE there is simply no such thing.
Anyway. If you're interested in the same program as I use, so Camtasia Studio, I can clearly and without doubt say that since 8.4 version you can do nearly everything you want, but it's more like doing all the things on your own, rather than copy-pasting effects and just changing it's values in AAE. Or rather not... Since 8.4.4 there is yet "Copy all visualisations from this media"... So this argument is invalid... Anyway, the final step is up to you, but IMO Camtasia 8 is the superior one, despite being very basic, just sayin'. : )
