New laptop for (female)friend

The screen on the MacBook Pro with Retina are some of the best on the market, the older models though have such low resolution 1280x800 and 1440x900 are basically jokes that even though the colors and viewing angles are good it doesn't make up for it.

It's possible they aren't bringing it to Norway yet.

Do NOT get those Lenovo laptops with ultrabay SLi. Nvidia doesn't officialy support it and you have to rely on Lenovo for drivers. And we all know what that means when new games come out. Also, Optimus is a no go and so is battery life when you go with SLi.

Also, aerandir, it would be helpful if you could give us a price range in euros and a general price delta for electronics between your country and a country which uses euros as its main currency.

Agreed, I wouldn't go for Ultrabay SLI either. 750M by itself is more than capable.

410/510p launched very recently in the US, so give it a bit of time for European markets.

So, the top price we are at for now is directly converted to euros 886€
But because of price delta I think it is more like 750€ from your side. Will check it up more closely tomorrow, busy today

Mate, the best advice I can give you right now is to wait if possible. Haswell and Geforce 7xx laptops are just coming out. It'll be a month or so before they get to the old continent. The bump they'll provide in battery life and graphics performance  is too big to ignore.

I've just looked now, something this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152393 barely fits in your budget, I suppose. When the new gen comes out, you will either be able to get something with haswell/gt7XXm for approximately the same money or get this one for cheaper.

A month? That could perhaps be a bit too long to wait. Oh well

Hum, what about the VivoBook S400? Seems nice

I guess there is a Haswell version coming soon?

Yea, well, when I said Haswell laptops, this included Vivobooks, Alienwares and everything else. I doubt you'll be able to get your hands on one before August w/o importing it.
