I will be putting together a build in the next couple of weeks, decided to go for SLI 970s and a ROG Swift

My question as it will be primarily used for gaming - is it worth going to the 4790k or will the 4670k do just as well with no bottlenecks?

Thanks

TC

The i5 will be slightly slower (maybe like 3 FPS), but I wouldnt call that a bottleneck. ;)

IMO an i7, if u can afford a Swift, then u can afford the i7, and it will be better for MMOs like Planetside 2

the i7 isn't worth the extra 100 dollars over the i5 for the 2-3 fps gain.  Stick with the i5, overclock it, and you should be fine.

EDIT:  With the extra 100 dollars you save from the i5, you could get a AIO watercooler for even higher overclocks :)

True, or he can get a Xeon, max out the Turbo and up the baseclock to get it to 4Ghz
