So is it just to move that folder to thenew ssd and it works?

Not really, no. See, C:\Windows is basically the majority of the OS. It allows Windows to do what it does, but it doesn't contain drivers etc. Just backup your Steam games onto an External HDD, and do a fresh install.

You can find that by copying and pasting "Control Panel\System and Security\System" into your control panel (without quotation marks) I think. as long as you're installing the same OS, and it's not OEM and you're replacing your motherboard, that should work.

EDIT: Not sure about that actually. Sorry, ask someone else. Nope, you can't find product key like that

...'windows' folder on the desktop? what?

He means C:\Windows\

Actually, NeatSquid is right. You need to delete System32, especially hal.dll

You see hal is an evil computer and if you don't delete it your computer might turn self-aware, it won't let you do anything! Especially if your name is Dave.

Also @NeatSquidYT %windir% does have drivers... c:\windows\drivers :))

And no you can't find the product key by typing that into control ;)

Why buy licences then?

It depends what sort of licence you have. Each licence can only be used on one PC at once, meaning you need to buy one for every PC you have. Retail licences can be moved from one PC to another with no restriction (sometimes needing a call to Microsoft to remove the licence from the old PC), whereas an OEM licence is only supposed to be used on one PC. OEM licences are supposedly tied to your PC hardware when they are registered (always the motherboard and sometimes other components), but very rarely you can move them to a completely new build (but don't rely on that).

How? Isnt there a reason we buy OS

You need to buy one copy of the OS for every PC you plan to install it on. If you have bought a retail licence you won't need to buy a new licence if you choose to move the licence. OEM licences are supposed to be tied to one PC (set of hardware) only, but rarely they can be transferred (but it is a bad idea to rely on that).
