Xonar, since it's top notch. 

No other reason really. I don't like the sound blaster cards. :o

Xonar because pretty much all (if not all) creative cards have a 1 year warrant,whereas Asus Xonar cards have a 3 year warranty.

 

Xonar cards are also higher quality from what I've heard.

Creative used to make the most uber soundcards avaible, but from the reviews I have seen / read, the Xonar Essence STX actually is the best [consumer] soundcard at the moment.

 

Are you going to hook up an AMP or high quality headphones? -> STX

7.1 Speakers -> Creative

 

Using a "gaming headset" no soundcard needed.

Frost upon these cigarettes.... lipstick on the window pane...

Creative's titanium card is pretty good but other than that I think all of Asus' cards beat them for their price points.
