Someone explain this -snip- thing

I keep seeing this snip thing in a lot of threads and I dont know what it means. Can someone enlighten me?

It's so they don't have a massive quote for a post.

It's to shorten parts that don't need to be included in the quote usually due to it being egregiously long.

If someone posts pictures or a wall of text in their post, we cut it out and write "-snip-" to avoid thread clog.

Generally, anything over 5 lines or with a picture should be snipped.

In all subforums except for Off Topic (I think), if you are the OP of a thread, there's a mark solved button next to the Quote buttons that allows you to highlight that post as the answer and promote it to the top of the page.
