Why watecool the backplate?

When or for what would I need this? Does the back really become that hot?

isnt that just a backplate? watercooling the back seems like a waste to me, my 770 doesnt even have a backplate

There is no waterblock on the back of that card. That is just a metal backplate. The waterblock is on the front side. Look at where the copper is.

confused? its just a normal water cooled card with a blackplate

I was looking at backplates and that one was the only one with a water cooling connector. So yeah, I messed up.
