X99 or Z97?

Hello!

So I'm in a bit of situation here,

My PC needs an upgrade. I'm currently running an old APU, cheap MSI mobo, and 8gb of RAM.

I do a decent amount of content creation, and these specs aren't cutting it.

I've been looking at a few different options, but I'm still pretty new to Intel etc. so I'm just looking for a bit of guidance on what I should do!

I've been looking at an i7 4970k, Gigabyte GA-Z97X ( http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128705 ) and 16gb Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 1600mhz (because pretty lightz <3)

OR

An i7 5820k, MSI X99S SLI Plus, 16gb of G.Skill Rip Jaws 4 2133mhz

What would you guys recommend? Going X99 would mean $1200 including taxes and shipping, versus $900 for the 4970k, which would mean I could squeeze in another 280X for "games n stuff" as well as a proper cooler, rather than a CM Evo. Will there be a noticeable difference if I get the 5820k?

for rendering I am sure the difference will be noticable if your rendering is CPU based and not Open CL on GPU or CUDA, as you are moving up to 6 cores from 4 and up to 15 MB of L3 cache from 8 mb

The difference will be noticeable, but it is not worth the $300 IMO, put that money towards better use, 4790K still whoops ass at content creation.
