I want to install Cyanogenmod 12 on my LG G3

I want to and I have seen several tutorials from reputability sources, however I don't know if I need to root first or be rooted at all? Plus where do I put the versions of cyanogenmod on my phone in order to install it? I'm kind of new to this...

According to the page here...well...it doesn't say... I'd guess no because it gives root in the mod.

Well first you need to install a custom recovery. Not sure if you need to unlock you bootloader but look around on XDA. Last LG phone was from 2010. Then install your ROM in your recovery. You may or may not have to flash your kernel. Not sure about LG phones
