That's too simple and very restrictive. ;)

True! He needs something like iMovie, which is like WMM on steroids, so as to not be so restrictive.

Sony Vegas is probably what you're looking for. Has decent GPU rendering if you select the correct codecs and is very simple to use. What kind of gameplay footage are you recording? And at what resolution?

get a cheap copy of sony vegas, its really good :)

You could also try out Camtasia Studio's Editor.

 

Doesn't have as many features as Vegas but works just as good. In my experience with it, I had marginally shorter render times and with my build, it was impressive.

Preview Screen does lag at times though if I have a crap ton of things on my editing, but that's prob just a PC problem (my pc problem, certainly not yours).
