Hello, specs are in my sig

Simple question, from my 8350 going to a 4790k would be better or a 4960x?

I do just gaming, gave up on content creation a long time ago. I use 1080p now, possible 1440p I'm the future.

I know the 4960x has 4 more threads and 2 more cores. The 4790k compared to my fx has 4 less cores. Any possibility if games ever do get more comfy with more cores, in ANY situation will the fx beat the 4790k? More I am also getting a custom loop and probably with wc of vrm and the Maximus vii formula, looking to a 4.7 or 5 ghz oc.

4790k. period.

extreme editions will do the average person no good, not even the average video editor/3d worker.

4790k will be fine, more than fine.

I would say get the 4790k, I think it's cheaper to build compared to an LGA 2011, and it's still pretty solid

What improvements will I get over my 8359 if I pair that up with a Maximus vii formula

motherboards dont offer much performance gains at all, just dont overspend on one, find one that offers the features you need (sli, etc)

im assuming you will notice very nice performance benefits when upgrading from your fx8 to an i7

4960x would be pointless for gaming.  4790k MAXIMUM if all you're doing is gaming.

Don't forget that the i7 also has HT. The FX8 isn't even 8 real cores either. In the end they're both 8 "thread" CPUs, but Intel is much better then AMD at the same clock speeds.

Desktop: Intel Core i5 2380P (2400 w/o iGPU), MSI H61, 8GB RAM, 256GB SP610, 500GB WD Blue, HIS R9 280, Antec TruePower Classic 550W, Inwin MANA 134, QNIX QX2710, CM QuickFire Rapid, Logitech G402

Phone: iPhone 6 Space Gray 64GB, T-Mobile $60/mo 3GB plan

Unless you're being bottle-necked I suggest waiting.

The 8350 will never beat any of those in game-play even when more cores can be used.

I get bad minimum fps from my 8350. Like 80 in titanfall. Gpu sits at 85% and cpu at 100

That would be a bottle-neck. I own an 8320 with two GTX 760's and have never had my 8320 reach 100% unless I'm using a CPU intensive program.

I have also never played titan-fall though so yeah. What's the usage like at idle with zero programs running?

Well there is always something running :).

With the following programs running -

Corsair link

Corsair utility engine

Google chrome

Msi afterburner

Microsoft one drive

Ai Suite

I get like 2 percent overall

Hmm, I guess titanfall is a cpu intensive game.

The cost of the 4960X for me personally isn't worth it. It will take at least another two years for games to actually use even 4 cores properly.

Especially since consoles are slowing us down. 4970K will last you a while, probably another GPU or two. That's just my opinion.
