You owe it to yourself to get the 4790K.

 

You won't be future proofing, especially with a non Extreme edition CPU.

Sorry if this has already been asked.

 

I want your opinions on the i5-4690K vs i7-4790K.  

I do a bunch of video/audio editing (and want my new build to be able to handle 4K), so do you think I should spend the extra $100 and get the 4790K since it has more threads?

Also do you think that would help future proof myself, as future apps well take advantage of more threads?

If you're going to be doing a bunch of editing, get the 4790K. It will definitely help. 

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.
