I need a subwoofer! Suggestions?

Enstage

Currently my setup in terms of sound is:

Computer > Scarlett 2i2 > KRK Rokit 5's

I want to insert a subwoofer between the Scarlett and KRK's, my price range is about $100-$300.

I live in Australia if it helps!

Thanks

KRK makes a good companion sub for the rokits.

Yes, but as I mentioned, my price range is $100-$300 not $800.

I purely said $800 from memory, sorry if I was unclear. My price range sadly still sits at $100-$300.

And it's about $800 when you include shipping to Australia...

Yea I do. I'll do some research on it.

What parts do you think would be the best?

You'll want a 10" cone at the smallest, some plywood, a plastic port tube and a cheap matching amplifier with a crossover. You can get pretty much everything at partsexpress.com

time and patience saves a lot of money ;)

I can show you the designs of mine if you'd like!

It might be a bit different then what you might need though

But be sure to simulate the enclosure first. Slapping a random driver in a random enclosure is a recipe for a bad sounding sub

Speakers have electromechanical parameters, called Thiele Small Parameters (TSP for short).

With help of the TSP you can simulate the performance using a simulator like WinISD.

You need at least Qts, Vas and Fs.

After you loaded the parameters in the simming program you can play with the box and see what impact your changes will have.
