Pc for heavy browsing

chitranjan

I have a i7 980x

With 8gb of ram

80 gb ssd

And still my browser (chrome) gets slow down and hangs for 2-3 secs and then suddenly load. And this happens to every tab.

Shall I increase my ram and if yes which ram and how much gb of ram

I am a heavy browser user, I use almost 40 to 50 tabs at a time.

Thanks in advance.

It might be the memory but 8GB should be fine even for that many tabs. I use a lot all the time and no problems with 8GB.

Have you cleared your cache recently? If not, that could be your issue. You need to completely wipe your Google Chrome cache. If you haven't, I'll give you a quick tip. @chitranjan

Downloading programs from CNet is not a good idea, as they will commonly include unwanted, and sometimes dangerous bloatware... The more you know.

The question is, are you using up your memory? If so then the answer should be obvious.

Before you go out and buy hardware, try another browser. Opera and Firefox have been known to use MUCH less ram than Chrome does.

I agree. Opera has also a reputation of being good with slow internet as well.

Depends on your browsing habits, really there is no limit, the more RAM the more tabs you can have without it exploding.

But linus made a video where 64 gb ram was not utilized properly by many softwares.

Will chrome also do that or will it use all of that ram.

if its a 64-bit app then it probably will. i don't know if chrome does, but opera 64 does and waterfox does.
