Will my CPU bottleneck my GPU

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

What if I upgrade my GPU to an r9 280x instead of a 270x?

you wont get max gpu load in some games...still fully worth it though...overclock cpu if possible.

its pushing it a little, the r9 280 would be a better match, its cheaper as well...its the sweet spot right now.

I currently own an AMD FX-6300 and I plan on buying a Sapphire Radeon r9 270x (2gb) graphics card. Do I need to upgrade my CPU to a FX-8350 to prevent bottlenecking? (I will be using the pc to play games like CS:GO, Assassin's Creed, Advanced Warfare, GTA, etc.

:D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

No your cpu is fine with a 270x. If you want to upgrade your cpu later to avoid bottleneck go for intel cpu like a i5 4690k or a 4460(cheaper then 4690k and is price closer to a 8350) since the fx 8350 will still bottleneck high end gpu like a 970 or 980

Not much at all in most scenarios, and a lot of the time upgrading to the 8350 won't provide a tangible benefit. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/285927-gaming-performance-between-4300-8350-and-4-threaded-performance-between-amd-intel/

cpu should always run 99%

Question is. The gpu running at 99%?

No the CPU should not be maxed out as this indicates a CPU bottelneck. My Intel Core i5 has rarly ever hit 100% on 1 core or more in any games. My old Phenom II x4 however was always screaming and running @ 100% on one or more cores and the games performance were crippled.

good to know

but I was talking about gpu bottleneck.

Maybe cpu should not always run at 99%

But gpu should be 90%+

Ps: if ur cpu run at 99% but cripple ur performances consider upgrading lol

Well I would be happy if a GTX 980 was maxed out cause typically depending on the game the frame rate would be very high.

I just upgraded to Intel Master race before Christmas 4690K FTW !
