so short story short i have a small server rack becuase why the heck not. and well cooling some 8 core fx8350's with low profile air coolers was just not working. at idle i had 50C temps... thats nutz so i came up with the crazy idea to water cool them on the same loop... and so far everything went smooth with only one small leak that was fixed with some extra zip ties...

so i went down to my local microcenter as i could not wait any longer for fixing the cooling. i got a nice swiftech 655 pump along with a triple 120mm siwftech rad and some basic res and some opaque white tubing. the only blocks they had for amd was xspc raystorm blocks. setting it up wasnt to hard after watching a bajillion videos of linus and the crew plus jaystwocents videos.

i managed to get both systems together and filled in about 2 hours then about an hour or so for leak testing and bubble removal. hindsight should have gotten clear tubing for easier bubble spoting but oh well live and learn right >.>

if you all want some pictures of my janky setup just ask ill try and get some so you can admire my first custom loop like i have been ^.^

but in the end so far both systems temps are under 20c now but thats with some old crappy fans i had laying around but its holding just fine.

yes you might say a tripple rad was overkill but i have a third system in the works and figured a tripple rad would cover all 3 systems no problem so i went with it now instead of upgrading later. and i will get new fans later as well and maybe a fan controller too

UPDATE:

update pictures. they are on my one drive and i cant figure out how to get the pictures embeded in the post the normal way so i just linked them sorry one day ill figure it out.

Oh and your CPUs are not under 20C unless you have your server racks in an air conditioned room. You cannot cool anything below ambient temperature with liquid cooling.

It is just the temperature algorithms of AMD CPUs that give incorrect temps when below 40C

i am aware of that but since the cpu was reading 58c befor and now the same sensor is reading 20ish that is waht i will go by as i dont feel like getting any external sensor. but its a nice drop regardless... just gunna clean it up a bit and try and get some nice pics. hold on :]

My 8320 actually achieved 24C on stock cooler fan at full load with case fans also full load to with the CPU on idle and i downvolted the stock voltage WITH ALL WINDOWS OPEN.......room temp was 40F...

what did you use to measure the correct temperature?

motherboard CPU temp sensor or infrared?

HWMonitor and Asus AI Suite both reported the same temps

thats because they monitor the CPU temp algorithm...

using different programs wont change anything, it is the algorithm that gives a false reading, not the program you use.

anything below 40C on an AMD CPU is not accurate

Yeah right...........

Your probably thinking about FM sockets, they are known for cpu temps issues that give out false readings...... my AM3+ socket is fine.

no, its an issue with all AMD CPUs because they all use the same temperature algorithm

it doesnt have anything to do with the motherboard or socket

yup i had a phenom 1090t that would read tempatures as low as 2c and that was with ambiant temps of about 25ish. so yeah thats kinda not possible on just air cooling...

Just because you heard it doesn't mean it happens to everyone, right now my CPU is at 64C running F@H. My 8320 idles around 35C.

ive seen plenty of people get below 0C with normal air cooling or liquid cooling, lol

well the lower the temperature of the CPU the more screwed up the temp readings will be.

usually its only a noticeable difference when AMD CPUs go below 40 or 35C, or somewhere in the 30s

every CPU is different so some might be fine to 25C or something like that, but usually it is at around the 35-40C mark

Core 2 Duo sockets or cpus also have problems too.......

how does this happen

those are motherboard temp sensors not the CPU...

you can see under the "CPU" tab that it is at a normal 37 and 40C

motherboard temp sensors can sometimes be defective because unlike AMD CPUs they actually use a real sensor, not an algorithm
