980 2 WAY SLI plus extra GPU

Ok guys here's the thing, I just got myself 2 Asus pq321q and they're both running MST off a 980 which itself is in SLI with an other 980

I have those living in a Rampage 4 Extreme sporting a 3930K.

 

running 2 4K screens for desktop use really is just what the doctor ordered but the thing is I need to plug in a third small monitor, and here is the issue, I have one plugged in DVI of the main 980 and , using windows7, I'm losing Aero with this config, it may not be too bothersome in the short run, but I will need it back eventually, now I have the GPUs plugged at PCIe 1 and PCIe 3 and I assume they're both running at 16X reading that running extra monitors off an other GPU solves the problem, I tried adding a 210GT in, just for that monitor and the system just isn't recognizing it, giving me the same results in PCIe 2A and PCIe 4, that GPU does work on my secondary PC so it's fine, I assumed the setup would run at 16-8-16 or 16-8-8 when I had the 210 in PCIe 2A ... oh and I guess running the monitor from the second 980 would only work if I disable SLI which I don't want so that's not an option.

 

Anybody running 2 980's in SLI and had to have an extra GPU installed for extra screens out there ?

I'm considering an Asus X99 mobo with a 5960X and booting from M2 X4

and naturally I'm considering migrating my setup to it, now the X99 Deluxe has in the notes what PCIe lane shares bandwidth with what and whatnot , but I'm seriously considering a X99 E WS, sadly the same info about it just isn't there, anybody has any info on that?

did you install all the GPU into the Red slots?

 

those are for the GPUs to use

The M.2 slot shares PCIe lanes with the PCI Express 3.0 X4 slot

Im confused.  My single 290 can run 3 monitors (2-DVI, 1 DisplayPort,), maybe I'm not understanding what your problem is.  You have 3 DisplayPort, 1 DVI and 1 HDMI on a single 980.  Your 2 4k monitors should be in DisplayPorts and your 3rd on DVI/DisplayPort

been searching a bit, seems I can't have more than 4 screens run stable on 1 GPU, I technically have 4 because each screen is connected through DP in MST to my 980, I'll be receiving the ordered 610 GT today and will report what will happen, thanks guys for pitching in   as for the manual u'r right, I did miss that particular info, so will see what to do and also report here

fits like a glove, 2x 980's in SLI, and the 610 has a screen on it's own, my setup for this board is as good as it'll ever get, and it's great
