Desktop vs Laptops

Go to solution Solved by KayTees,

will the performance of a desktop with same config equals laptop with the same config?

or will one be better than other and why?

I like to doubt GPUBoss but hey. Numbers.

No, the desktop will be better due to the fact that mobile components use "M" rated components that stand for mobile. Which means lower clock speeds due to heat output and size restriction

Even though what the other people say is true, with each generation the delta of performance between desktop and mobile variants is coming down. If you take a look at linus' video comparing a g750 with a similar specced desktop it was only a few hundred more expensive.

  • 2 weeks later...

The difference between laptops and desktops these days is the mobile parts that they have to use for lower power consumption, along with the limited heat management.

I wouldn't get a low-end laptop for anything other than browsing the internet and watching the odd movie.

No, u have basically unlimited cooling and size potential when it comes to desktops

Mobile components have to be crippled in some way to output less heat on a laptop due to size and cooling restrictions
