---------------

A long time waiting with this build, one I fully intended to simply let sit until I had my hands on my ASUS RoG Swift. I'd say it worked out well. It sat for approximately five months while I waited, but I finally got that monitor. It is glorious. (Side note, this build started before the x99 boards and CPUs were released, and also before 9XX GPUs, though I plan to grab a 980ti when it's released)

So, here's the Blood Machine.

The Cosmos2 case will inevitably be a 'for-life' case. I fully intend it to be such. It's enormous, and there's more space in it than I know what to do with, but it certainly helped that I intended to get a bunch of hard drives.

The 250GB SSDs are set up in a RAID5 format, just in case anything goes wrong. Three of the HDDs are setup in as a single drive which will hold movies and the like. Basic data storage, no games or fancy stuff will touch those, so high-speed isn't necessary. The last one is set up as a secondary backup drive for my RAID drive, just in case.

The CPU cooler was probably the most unusual one I've encountered. That thing is HUGE! Works well though, so I like it. Still trying to figure out how to OC the CPU with this mobo. It's being a bit finicky about actually applying the OC even though I've told it to. More research probably required, but I'll figure that out at some point.

RAM may have been a bit more overkill than necessary, but it had the style I wanted so I got it.

The Swift is the primary point to the whole thing. I wanted the sheer ridiculousness of it, and I damned-well got it. There have been absolutely no issues with the monitor at all. Backlight bleed doesn't exist, no dead or stuck pixels, the view angles are absolutely incredible, and games are awesome. My 780SC is dedicated to this monitor and the 770 I have in there is used to connect the peripheral monitors. No OC on the 780, as I plan to resell it once the 980ti is released.

The peripheral monitors are all being brought in from my old build and will remain as periphs for as long as they live. The four-monitor setup was the plan from the get-go, but the stand addition didn't arrive for a while after. I finally got that this past Monday and put it all together.

Most people would probably rag on my for not having a mechanical keyboard, but that's alright. I generally game with the Orbweaver, which is actually phenomenal. The ONLY issue I have with it is that the 4-way directional pad isn't a joystick/joypad, which could only make it better if done well. The mouse is awesome as well, though it looks like a transformer infected it. It's very well built.

Speakers are speakers, and while these aren't the top-of-the-line kind of speakers, they certainly hold their own. No complaints there.

Needless to say, I'm very pleased with this very overkill build. Gaming is utterly glorious on the machine, and it'll stick up well for some time, especially once I have my hands on a 980ti.

So, thoughts? Complaints? Questions? Throw them at me, ready and willing! ((I will also post more pics once I get home to take them. Feel free to request specifics!))

Did no one see in my description that I'm going for a 980ti (or two) when they're released? The 780SC is only going to hold me over until the release of the 980ti, in-which-case I will replace it with that and probably sell the 780SC.

Not 770s. 780SC for the moment. 980ti when it's released, don't you worry.

Just to offload network processing.

No. So much no. Network processing probably uses, what, .0001% of the CPU, if any at all? And you're trading a badass onboard Intel NIC for a bargain-bin network card. Save yourself the $12, if this build is even real at all.

Didn't think about that. Regardless, it's comcast network, so pretty much shit connection anyway. Biggest choke on the beast.

Mostly at the moment just gaming. Also intend to use it as my Star Citizen machine after I snag a 980ti. Gonna be a wait for that.

After I get home, yup! I'll try to take a plethora of them, but the only cam I have is the one on my phone. It's not potato, but it's not much better.
