My perfect game would be Final Fantasy XI with modern graphics and Final Fantasy XIV 1.2's (NOT ARR) combat system with skillchains and magic bursts. Just that. I miss the days of good MMOs, with no simplistic WoW combat (skillbar masher, as I like to call it) and PRACTICALLY NO FETCH QUESTS. Too bad that game will probably never exist, and MMORPGs will probably keep sinking deeper and deeper into the same BS they've been caught on for a decade. :/

Stuff from the 8/16 bit era. No 4K Hype, no "I need SLi". When being a fanboy was OK and you still played the other console anyways, just because it was a video game. The slew of consoles that came out. Now it's narrowed down to 3 camps. PS4/XBOX1, Wii U, and PC. How about bringing back some sequels to games that should have had one. I have grown weary of the very cookie-cutter-esque way games are made anymore. Give me some Doom, Quake, and a little bit of Total Annihilation and I am good to go.

Knights of the Old Republic with updated combat.

Why

1. Complete story arc in one game, which is something we don't see anymore with sequel bait and DLC up the ass.

2. No filler crap, and garbage quests not relevant to the main plot to fill out the game, before the sequel.

3. A beginning, a middle (reveal) and a satisfying ending, without years in between, and or writing and direction of the series changing  (Mass Effect would be an example of this).

As far as FPS? Go back to the roots. Consoles destroyed the FPS genre when they got involved imo. We had evolved to Starsiege Tribes. Now we get the same damn game with a different skin (Halo is just COD in space) or we get idiotic mmo elements (and I like MMO's) in our FPS games.

As far as single player FPS games back then and problem solving and exploration? Nope. Screw that. Instead we have this.

Dayz standalone with a smooth engine, and good developers(vehicles)

CS: GO with a great anti cheat system(no hacks) sort of like esea, and actual hit registration and hit boxs, with polished maps and good shout casters.

League of Legends without counterpicks and brain dead teammates.

Planetside 2 without free to play.

Destiny if it would have lived up to the hype.

NFS: Most Wanted Original Redux, not the horrendous remake the retained almost nothing from the original game.

What's wrong with the combat?

It was ok. It could just be better as far as melee :). Pressing flurry/critical strike a million times was dull. Maybe a combo system like Mordor for melee. It was a RPG though, so I don't really hold it against the game all that much. Mordor's story was a joke compared to KOTOR. Different games. :)

Yeah. SWTOR could have been sooooo good. Those of us who beta tested it, told them it was not ready. It had memory leaks, the engine was unoptimized trash. The classes were actually really good. The story was decent (especially agent, knight, scoundrel). The combat and warzones (hutball was amazing I thought) was great. The problem was it ran like garbage on everyones computer, except OC Sandybridge's at release which not many people had.

Illum was a great idea, but the engine couldn't handle it. Things like dual spec should be in every game now. Dialogue inside the instance dungeons was a horrible choice and made them tedious after the first time. Corellia felt rushed and lacked the quality of the early game. Much more end game content should have been there.

Blizzard would have delayed the game 2-3 years and it would have been much more polished.  If EA had delayed it even one I think it could have been one of the best games ever.
