Good Headset Under $200?

Go to solution Solved by Archangel1994,

I've had closed back all my life, but I suppose I am willing to try open if I can find a good pair

Then allow me to give you suggestions for both (Suggest buying at amazon for the 30-day money back guarantee if you don't like open)

Closed back: ATH-M40x + ModMic 4.0

Open back: HD558/598 + ModMic 4.0, ATH-AD700X + ModMic 4.0

Hi All,

Recently, my Steelseries Sibera V2's broke after a long period of use. Now I am in the market for a new headset with a decent mic for under (or close to) $200. Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

For mic quality, I'd look into the HyperX Clouds, then turn the sampling rate up in Windows.

Or, as mentioned in the post above me, buy a pair of audiophile headphones then a mic seperate.  Blue Snowball, anyone?

Closed back my recommendation would be the ATH-M50/M50x.

Open back I'd be shopping for a deal on the Senn HD598 or possibly one of the AKG's (but be careful of finding one that will work well with whatever you have to power it with).

Mic?  Zalman, Antlion, your pick.

Open backed cans:  Pro: typically have a larger "sound stage", which can give you an edge in gaming over closed cans.  Con: bleed both sound out into the room and also let sound IN.

System: i5 6600K@3.6 GHz, Gigabyte Z170XP SLI, 2x8 Corsair DDR 3000, Corsair Hydro H60i cooler, Rosewill CAPSTONE 750w Gold PSU, 1x 512GB SSD, 1x 2TB 7200RPM, Windows 10 Pro x64
Display: XFX R9 390 DD, triple 1920x1200 24" HP monitors (5760x1200 @ 60Hz)   Sound: Audio-gd NFB-11 -> AKG K7XX or 2.1 speaker system
