Hello,

I live in Western Australia, Australia. I am aiming to get this build by late February/early March. My budget is $1400 AUD at that time, and this would preferably include a headset. I already have a monitor which i will link below. (1080p, 60Hz, 1ms GtG) and i don't need an expensive/ gaming keyboard straight away. I am aiming for the best gameplay possible for 1080p, 60Hz gameplay on high-ultra settings, which I think this build easily covers but I'm not sure if I am wasting money by buying the GTX970 because the monitor would "bottleneck" its capabilities. I will be playing intensive games such as Far Cry 4, Heavily Modded Skyrim and also less intensive games too. Is there maybe an AMD GPU that is cheaper and just as capable for this monitor set-up?

Proposed build:

I have listed existing peripherals below but I need to get a headset still. I am thinking of the HyperX Cloud Pro which seems highly regarded online at many places and it fits into my budget nicely. ($112 is lowest I can find)

Existing Peripherals:

Thanks (:

I'd suggest planning later. ~2-3 days at most before you buy. Parts and prices change frequently so any parts list you come up with now will likely be obsolete by the time you're ready to buy.

Looks decent so far but you might as well go with a 4690k and z97 board.

yeah i am just try to see if i have the right idea and if its worth pursuing or if i need to rethink it completely. Also is the extra money worth the overclocking and if i did would i need to upgrade my PSU or CPU fan?

Thanks

You wouldn't need to upgrade the cpu cooler (considering you already listed a 212 Evo) or psu. I mentioned that you might as well upgrade because it wouldn't cost much more looking at the parts list.

If your not into overcocking i wouldn't worry about it, plus it does void your warranty if you care about that.

Your build looks solid, not sure about that mouse though pretty damn expensive for a mouse you can get a great mouse for $50 - $60 such as razer deathadder or logitch G502.

Also are you planning on buying your parts threw newegg??

@WoodenMarker its +$50 for the i5-4690k and I am not too sure how much more a Z97 board would cost. Could you recommend a few that seem to have a good price point for their features and my budget?

Cheers (:

Pricing's not that good atm. Again, I'd suggest planning later anyway since today's pricing wouldn't be as relevant.

Probably not considering he's in Australia.

@NickG i read that the CPU i chose had a 3.7Ghz turbo boost which apparently gets boosted for when its needed so OC isn't really required if it can reach that anyways. My mouse was a mistake form a while back, I didn't really know much back then and i made the expensive is better mistake :/

as for the part supplier I'm just gonna get is the cheapest i can find.

cheers

well just some quick advice when choosing a place to buy from, you probably want to buy from a Australian store, newegg is American and shipping is most likely going to be fairly expensive, i find pccasegear to be very good they are Australian and have brought products from them many times
