I recently swapped out my Fx 4100 for a 6300 but i've been noticing a lot of stuttering in a few games for example Next car game stutters, Gta iv and Csgo get the odd lag spike. I have a 1Gb Gtx 650ti.

Did your computer take a hit or have you by mistake dropped your pc??(I know it's a pretty stupid question)and how old is your HDD. Also GTAIV is a very poorly optimized title so try something a little less demanding.

Try lowering the textures, It probably doesnt matter But it may.

Often stuttering is becouse of the Vram running out.

It's to old to know so it's probably just that now i think of it, i'm buying an ssd soon so hopefully that might help.

BOOM, found out why...... that HDD is too old (like you said) and it is probably dying. an SSD will help a lot just remeber not to clone your HDD data over to you SSD. it always causes problems

It is probably not the HDD that is the problem, I have most of my games on a 8 years old HDD and im not experiencing Any stuttering.

It is more likely to be the graphics card that doesnt keep up to the CPU.

I'm looking at updating both so hopefully it should be fixed by then :)

Wait and see the GTX 960 or the R9 380 and see, They should fit pretty good when you want to upgrade.

Or right now the R9 280x or GTX 770 would be a pretty solid upgrade.

I don't know if anyone has asked yet but how much memory are you using. If its only 8 . I suggest going up to 16gig.. it is AMD products. Also Defragged the old storage drive recently? Or maybe you got something going on new in the background?

Gonna cuffem and stuffem. QUE QUE QUE. I love it I love it. :P

what's your motherboard , what CPU cooler do you have , what temps are you running now , under load ?

in order to get a stable FPS in games , you need to turn off/on some features in the BIOS , like :

Cool n Quiet OFF

TURBO core OFF

C1,C6 OFF

SVM OFF

HPC OFF

APM OFF

Spread Spectrum OFF

Load Line : Normal

That is all good KenJimmy but I don't think we are talking about your setup. I think the post was made by Niall_wales. Only running I gig video card if he starts to play more intense games with a AMD processer he will need to bump things up if he at least wants to play ore than 30fps. You aren't going to go into BF4 running 4-8 gigs and a 1gig video card and expect smooth play. Not even in storyline.

you need a better GPU with more VRAM...you are most likely running out of VRAM and this is what is causing the stuttering...lower texture detail settings to get rid of the stutters.

monitor VRAM use with MSI afterburner to see where you at.

still , on Low settings , if his CPU isn't throttled he should be fine 9/10 times
