Offline PC games

I'm looking for some PC games that can be played offline, and aren't that demanding... As i would be playing them on a MacBook Pro (i5, 2.3GHz; intel HD 3000), i've tried one game (dota 2) and it ran it fine with the video setting turned down. Only problem is i have to run my fan speed at full (loud) and still then reaching around 70 degrees, which isn't practical for the places that i would be playing on it (noise).

Are there any PC games that aren't so demanding (don't mind turning settings down) and can be played offline? Preferably free to play as well... Thanks.

Dota 2 is one of the easiest games to run. One option is loading a game from kogregate.com and keeping the tab open. One really nice game on there is book of mages: the dark times.  I have played it through over 10 times because it has so many possible endings.

If you want games that are both free and not demanding I recommend looking on GameJolt: http://gamejolt.com

This is a funny game (and free!), it's kinda short, but it's not demanding at all provided you lower the settings a bit. But, seizure warning, and general craziness warning: http://www.gameoftheyear420blazeit.com

Anyways, if you want to stop the fan from spinning up so much you can try replacing the thermal paste.

Like everyone else here is saying Valve makes some great games with minimum power needed to run.

Another good way is to look for indie games on steam because you will find games that are Innovative, multi-platform, cheap, and have a low resource requirement.
